Natalia (called Natasha by those closest to her) had a pretty easy life. She lived in a modest little home with her parents, grandparents, and twin brother Ivan (Vanya). Her life was simple, maybe a little boring, but still good.

When she was nine, though, the family fell on hard times. Her mother lost her job, her grandfather broke his hip and fell ill, and her father had to work double time to support everyone. Natalia and Ivan reacted to the change in different ways; while Ivan grew distant and started fighting at school all the time, Natalia wanted nothing more than to make everything better. As soon as she was old enough, she started looking for a part-time job hoping to bring in more money.

She's been looking for seven years, and still hasn't been able to keep anything for very long. The after-effects of Communism are still heavy, and no one is interested in hiring a teenage girl. But she still searches, all while trying to take care of everyone and anyone around her.

Natalia has the power to make herself invisible at any given time. This is useful, but often leads to trouble when her curiosity leads her to find things out she shouldn't have, or would rather not have found out.

Natalia is sweet, kind and helpful to a fault. She worries so much for the well-being of other people she often forgets to think about herself. She especially worries about Ivan, who remains distant and continues to fight with his schoolmates. Her feelings towards Ivan are stronger than a sister should feel for a brother.

She's rather shy, but doesn't let that stop her from reaching out to other people. Unfortunately, she tends to try too hard and instead of being thankful, people are usually put off by her and find her overbearing.

Despite her desire to help, she's often pessimistic. Not just because people are put off by her, but because she knows she's only one person, and what can one person do to change the whole world?

Natalia is of average height, with shoulder-length auburn hair and bright brown eyes. She wears a lot of bright and earthy colors, and is never without her beloved red headband, a present given to her on her ninth birthday by her grandmother. She has a habit of biting her nails when upset, and when she's angry her right eye will start to twitch ever so slightly.
